Vengeance I, 2011
Series of 5 inkjet prints
59.4 x 42 cm each This work examines the imbalanced relationship between humans and animals. Disturbed by the mass-produced factory farming industry, live exports, and poaching/breeding for fur Andy created a piece that highlights these concerns in an accessible but discomforting way. It explores possible answers to the question "what if animals could respond to the way they are treated by humans?" A criticism of the way we take advantage of animals instead of taking care of them, Andy uses fashion and editorial imagery and every-day animal products and pairs it with injuries such as scratches, bites and bruises. The images intrigue, unsettle, provoke questions and to highlight the consequence of our actions.
